02/27/17- Dr. Padmanava Dash Hosts Visiting Scholars Spring 2017 Dr. Padmanava Dash, with the assistance of MSU master’s student Madhur Devkota and MSU PhD student Youngwoo Cho, is hosting four visiting scholars during the Spring 2017 academic semester. Three scholars traveled from South Korea to MSU for two weeks in early February. Scholar Kie Hyun Park teaches Earth Science at the Gyongggi Science High School for the gifted in S. Korea. Park and two of his students, Jongmin Choi and Byung Hyun Kim, visited to learn more on time-series analysis of satellite data in Dr. Dash’s laboratory, located in the Department of Geosciences. The fourth scholar, Ramin Baghbani, is a PhD student in Hydraulic Engineering Department at Razi University, Kermanshah, Iran. Baghbani will be spending nine months learning about the cutting edge research being conducted in Dr. Dash’s laboratory on comprehensive analysis of water quality issues and their monitoring. After Baghbani returns to Iran, he will incorporate the knowledge gained from MSU in his dissertation research, investigating eutrophication by the Zayandeh Rud River in Iran.
